for years I have been told to use in chipping the least amount possible of wrists action so my swing was more shallow and not steep.Result was thin shots and fat shots. Now I use the hinge and hold method and my chipping has enormously improved.Yes, do hinge your wrists if you want to chip well

The other options are 1) change putters for fast or slow greens. 2) if have an adjustable weight putter make adjustment prior to play.

Your explanations of the swing have been of immense help. Eternal thanks to you for all your help. Continue on with your mission to help us retards! (Sorry), politically incorrect adjective! Have watched many different instructors throughout the past several years and your instruction is gladly the most detailed, ( especially the pros/cons of doing it the right/wrong way with the results of both. You are the first and only instructor I have ever subscribed to, and I have full confidents in all your teachings. Thanks again!

Rob, interesting method , tomorrow I will try it.I am a low hp player and pretty good at the short game. When I must play from a severe , steep up-hill slop I use my 64 w with 12 b. Actually I play the shot on a way that it is opposite yours.Hands forward, weight all on the left foot and in purpose I want that the leading edge digs in the turf, no follow through at all. At set up the club-head nearly must touch the ball , this is the secret of this shot. You need a short back swing but with speed. If you leave distance between the ball and the club head, the leading edge digs without moving the ball.If instead you are precise the ball will pop up and it will check immediately .It is not a shot for fainthearted players because you must be very precise and to pull it off you need speed , thing that many players are afraid to use being so close to the flag.

Nick Taylor suggests that to hit a fade, play the ball forward which he says open the face to the target but closed to the swing path. I do not understand this. I do understand by placing the ball slightly back in my stance and opening the face a couple of degrees I can hit a draw. Given that, closing the face, playing the ball slightly forward should produce a fade. Is this true? Thanks.

Been playing my best golf lately. Striking my irons pure but still could not figure out why I had to swing so hard to get distance or having to manipulate ball compression. The losing the arm wrestling thought at the top was the missing ingredient. It creates a much more natural and powerful ball striking dynamic with less effort as well. Hoping it helps reduce my back problems as well!

This may sound weird, but if i hit this shot into a net, with the target on the backside of the net, should the ball bounce straight back to me? Because thats what I’m experiencing. Is that a tell that the shot was hit correctly?

Rob, I feel I can do the backswing well with my head on the wall, but in the follow through, I have difficulty. I feel a lot of pressure and pain in my right side and back as I try to keep tilted while turning. Is this common until one gets more flexible or is my technique just wrong?

Can’t thank you enough for your videos - they just make sense. I am a “self taught” golfer who was able to play some very good then very bad golf even on the same 9 holes never mind 18. 3 months ago this reached a peak and I decided to revisit driver and irons. I had seen so many UA-cam instructors about aiming right, hitting up, stance, grip etc. I had never considered wrist angles. Then I found your videos and the concentration on wrist angles and it made sense. I played yesterday with the revamped style and, after a slightly shaky start, I had one of my best rounds ever including 6 birdie putts (only 1 converted!!) . many thanks.

Thank you Rob. You have knocked at least 6-8 shots of my game in 4 weeks. Coming back to stack and tilt resolved everything for me, and now I get dissapointed with a bogey. You are definitely the best teacher on the internet although I will say that I combined your advice with Peter Cowen regarding the right arm rotation. THANK YOU. I really believe that scratch golf is less than 1 year away for me thanks to your simple yet fundamental advice. I do still have some issues, namely this wierd feeling of hip forward in the Driver and the akwardness of rotating around a cocked forward hip, but I expect I am exagerating it too much currently. Key things for me 1. Weight forward and rotate around left leg. 2. Use right leg as a stop and push vehicle to make sure I am not swaying back. 3. Right arm rotated with palm upwards. 4. Keeping right elbow tucked in. 5. Remebering to keep head back and not falling forward (this was huge) 6. Arms straight on release. Golf just became FUN again.
